Metaxoto

The Space of Dance

Dance has the power to move the body, the spirit, and society as a whole.

Metaxoto is a space where people are inspired to dance their own stories. Through our educational programmes, artistic initiatives, and international and multicultural collaborations, we teach, research, and practise dance. Every class and gathering at Metaxoto becomes a movement experience that fosters interaction between artists and society, stimulates thought, and strengthens the body.

A Note from the Artistic Director

Metaxoto, the space of dance!

From the very first moment, I’ve defined Metaxoto as a “space.” A word that, for me, means acceptance. A place that can hold everything real and imaginary in movement, theatre, and the stage. A place open to different cultures, to voices, viewpoints, and ideas that seek to be heard and to move.

Metaxoto gives space to others to exist, to express themselves freely, to experiment, to take risks, to create. It is like something initially empty; not from lack, but from possibility. It waits to be filled with steps, breaths, ideas, people, with acts of creation born through encounter. It is a space of size, because it can contain them all. And at the same time, it is deeply personal. It is not an impersonal center, but a living organism, bearing the traces, the memories, and the responsibility of the one who dreamed it.

And somehow, the words space and dance deliberately intertwine. They play a strange, poetic game, where one gives birth to the other. Because here, space acquires meaning only when it is filled with movement, and dance finally finds its space.

Parents’ Info

Do I need prior dance experience to join? At what age can a child start dance?

Not at all. Our programs are structured by age and level, and new students may be guided into the class that best supports their needs, experience, and development. At Metaxoto, there are classes for all ages and technical levels. The dance curriculum begins at approximately 3.5 years old. However, we offer specialized programs for younger preschool ages, with or without the accompaniment of an adult.

Metaxoto is astate-recognized dance school. But what does that mean?

It means that it meets all the requirements to welcome children and adults and to teach ballet and contemporary dance. The operating license is not merely a formality, it is a guarantee that the school functions legally, with qualified teachers, appropriate facilities, and educational programs that respect the age and abilities of each child.

Do I need a specific body type or age to study ballet?

Ballet, in addition to being a great art form, is also an excellent way to exercise the entire body, and it is suitable for all bodies and all ages. The school offers classes for children, teenagers, and adults, adapted to the needs and expectations of every age and every body.

What dance system is taught?

Our school follows a multi-system approach, drawing from internationally recognized methods. Training includes elements of the Russian ballet tradition and Vaganova method . We also teach Release–Limon, Cunningham, and Laban techniques. This blended approach allows students to develop strong technical foundations, musicality, and expressive freedom, while benefiting from the strengths of different pedagogical traditions.

Is there a uniform? What does my child need to wear?

Yes. Each class has a simple uniform that supports safe movement and a sense of belonging. Details vary by age and dance style. Once your child is enrolled, we’ll provide clear information on what is needed and how to obtain the uniform. Uniforms can be ordered directly through the school or purchased from recommended suppliers. Our team will guide you through the process to make it easy and stress-free.

Can I watch my child’s progress?

Yes. Parents are welcome to observe their child’s development through open classes, informal showings, performances, and social activities that take place throughout the year. These moments allow families to connect with the learning process while respecting the focus of the class.

What is the monthly fee and what does it include?

Fees include structured classes with experienced teachers and participation in school activities. Full pricing details are available upon inquiry or registration.
